Professional Experience
Chance Bartenfield is a family law attorney in Johnson Law Group’s Englewood office, where he represents families throughout Arapahoe County and the south Denver metro in divorce, child custody (allocation of parental responsibilities), and child support matters.
Chance comes to Colorado from North Carolina, where he practiced as an attorney representing clients from the first consultation through resolution, reaching agreements where agreement was possible and advocating in court where it was not. He built his approach around clear, steady communication, making sure clients always understand where their case stands and what comes next.
His preparation for practice was hands-on from the start. As a certified legal intern, Chance completed a legal residency in which he worked cases from beginning to end, communicated with clients as their matters unfolded, and prepared for and attended mediations and trials. Before that, he interviewed clients, drafted legal documents, and completed research memos as a legal assistant, and he first started working in law offices in 2018, years before law school.
At Elon University School of Law, Chance earned recognition for his pro bono service hours, a commitment to access to justice he carries into his work with Colorado families.
Education
Chance earned his Juris Doctor from Elon University School of Law in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he received a pro bono service hours award, and his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a pre-law focus from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he served as Vice President and Treasurer of the Phi Theta chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha.
