Colorado Area
Family Law & Divorce Attorneys

When a family is moving through divorce, custody, or a support dispute, the hardest part is often not the law itself. It is the feeling that no one is steering. You need clear direction, a grounded legal strategy, and an attorney who understands the courts where your case will actually be heard.

Johnson Law Group serves Colorado families statewide. We meet with clients in person at our offices across the state and by virtual consultation anywhere in Colorado, so the first conversation fits your schedule, not your attorney’s.

Schedule a no-pressure consultation: call (720) 815-9175 or book a time online. We listen first, explain what you are facing under Colorado law, and give you a clear next step, whether or not you hire us.

At Johnson Law Group, we believe that divorce shouldn’t define your future—it should position you for growth and healing. Let our family help yours. Contact us today to schedule a consultation and begin the journey toward your next chapter.

Where You Are, Where Your Case Is Heard

Our Colorado offices map to the counties and courthouses most relevant to each metro. Where you meet with us is about convenience. Where your case is filed is about jurisdiction. Both matter.

The primary courthouse listed shows the main courthouse for each office’s home county. Cases from secondary counties are heard in that county’s own courthouse. Jefferson County matters go to the 1st Judicial District courthouse in Golden. Weld County matters go to the 19th Judicial District courthouse in Greeley. Broomfield County matters go to the 17th Judicial District courthouse in Broomfield. Douglas County matters go to the 23rd Judicial District courthouse in Castle Rock (the 23rd JD was created in January 2025, separating Douglas, Elbert, and Lincoln from the 18th JD). We will confirm the correct court of filing at your consultation.

We can still represent you if you live outside these immediate metros, including the mountains, the Western Slope, and the Eastern Plains. Many Colorado family cases run successfully on a virtual model once the court of filing is established.

Why Choose Johnson Law?

The first call isn’t a sales call. You’ll talk to an attorney who listens before recommending anything. We ask the questions that matter, walk you through what Colorado law actually says about your situation, and tell you what we’d do next if we were in your position. Guidance over conversion. That is the part clients tell us makes the difference.

We build cases the way you’d want yours built. Family law isn’t a product. Two cases that look identical on paper can take very different shapes once you look at the kids, the assets, and the history. We start with what you actually need protected, build a strategy around it, and document the case as we go. Showing up to court prepared isn’t optional. It is just how we work.

A client portal that keeps you in the loop. When you hire Johnson Law Group, you get access to our Client Portal at no additional cost. Real-time alerts on every case milestone, transparent billing, and a direct line to your legal team and Client Care Specialist. You will know where your case stands without the waiting game.

We’re staffed for cases that don’t fit a template. A closely held business. Executive compensation. A relocation request. An interstate jurisdiction question. A need for privacy that goes beyond standard. Most Colorado family cases do not require any of that. When yours does, that is the kind of work we know how to do.

No outcome guarantees. Only preparation. No serious family law attorney can promise a specific result, and we won’t pretend otherwise. What we commit to is the preparation: a strategy that fits the facts, a documented case, and a clear understanding of what each phase requires. If anyone in family law guarantees you a result, that is a signal to keep looking.

What to Expect When You Call

Our consultation process is straightforward and built around three things you need before any decisions get made:

  1. We listen first. Tell us what is happening. The short version is fine, and we will ask the questions that matter.
  2. We explain what Colorado law says. In plain English. No lecture, no scare tactics, no pressure.
  3. We map the next step. You will leave the consultation with a clear sense of what comes next: filing, responding, gathering records, or pausing to think it through.

We know Colorado’s courts. We know the path through this kind of case. And we will walk you through what comes next before you commit to anything. Contact us today to schedule a consultation and begin the journey toward your next chapter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Colorado courthouse will my case be filed in?

Family law cases are generally filed in the county where you or your spouse live. For clients in our primary service areas, that typically means the Denver District Court, El Paso County Combined Courts, Adams County Justice Center, Larimer County Justice Center, or Arapahoe County District Court. We will confirm the correct court of filing at your consultation.

Either works. Virtual consultations and remote case management are available statewide. If you prefer meeting in person, five Front Range offices are available: Denver, Colorado Springs, Commerce City, Fort Collins, and Englewood.

Colorado cases involving an out-of-state spouse raise jurisdictional questions governed by the UCCJEA and related statutes. We handle the Colorado side of these matters and coordinate with counsel in the other state when the facts of the case require it. Bring what you know at the consultation. We will sort out which court should hear what.

No. Call the number closest to you, or schedule online. We will route your case to the attorney and office that best match your county and the nature of the matter.

Colorado family law costs depend on the complexity of the matter, how contested it is, and how much can be resolved without court intervention. We discuss fees transparently at the consultation and will not quote representation blind.

That is often the point of the first conversation. Bring what you know. We will help you identify what you are actually dealing with and what the Colorado courts will require from here.
