Englewood Divorce Mediation Lawyers
Divorce Mediation Attorney in Englewood
Settle the Terms Yourselves, With Counsel in the Room
Mediation lets you and your spouse decide the terms of your divorce with a neutral mediator instead of handing them to a judge. Johnson Law Group prepares Englewood clients for that table with accurate disclosures, a clear list of priorities, and a read on what a court would likely do. Think of us as the North Star for your case, a fixed point of honest counsel while you negotiate.
Our Englewood office sits in the Inverness Business Park, south of the Denver Tech Center and east of Interstate 25. Mediation preparation works well by video, and sessions themselves can be held in person, online, or through the court’s dispute resolution office depending on the mediator. Both options are available from the first call.

Mediation is confidential and non-binding until an agreement is signed and approved by the court. It can resolve every issue or only some, leaving the rest for a hearing. For the full walkthrough of how the process works and when it fits, start with how divorce mediation works in Colorado.
These related matters often come up in mediation, and each has its own Englewood page:
- Child custody: Parenting time and decision-making, what Colorado calls parental responsibilities.
- Child support: Setting, modifying, and enforcing support under Colorado’s guideline formula.
- Contested divorce: When spouses disagree on the terms and the case needs temporary orders, discovery, or a hearing.
- Divorce: Dissolution of marriage in Colorado, from the first filing through the final decree.
- Domestic partnership: Dissolving a civil union or domestic partnership and sorting out property and parenting.
- High-conflict child custody: Parenting disputes involving serious allegations, court-appointed evaluators, or a parent who will not cooperate.
- High net worth divorce: Business interests, executive compensation, and estates where valuation drives the outcome.
- Modification: Changing parenting time, child support, or maintenance after the decree when circumstances change.
- Orders of protection: Civil protection orders for safety, and how they interact with a pending divorce.
- Prenuptial and postnuptial agreements: Drafting, reviewing, and enforcing marital agreements under Colorado law.
- Property division: Dividing marital property and debt, including homes, businesses, and retirement accounts.
- Spousal maintenance: Colorado’s approach to alimony, from eligibility through amount, duration, and modification.
- Uncontested divorce: When you and your spouse agree on every issue and want the paperwork done right the first time.

Johnson Law Group 385 Inverness Pkwy, #250 Englewood, CO 80112 Office line: (720) 740-2578 | Arapahoe County and the south Denver metro | Eighteenth Judicial District, Arapahoe County Justice Center, 7325 S. Potomac Street, Centennial, CO 80112. The Self-Help Center is in Courthouse II, Room 131. |
Mediation itself happens outside the courtroom, but the divorce case behind it is filed with the Arapahoe County District Court at the Justice Center in Centennial. The agreement you reach is written into a separation agreement and parenting plan, then submitted to that court for review. From our Inverness office, the Justice Center is about five miles northeast, roughly 10 to 15 minutes by car.
Arapahoe judges commonly order mediation before any contested permanent orders hearing, so even a case that starts contested usually passes through this step. Sessions take place with a private mediator or through the state’s Office of Dispute Resolution, not at the courthouse counter.
Under Colorado’s domestic relations rule, an initial status conference is held no later than 42 days after the petition is filed. Attorneys on both sides can file a stipulated case management plan instead.

Why Englewood Families Trust Johnson Law Group
The first call is not a sales call. We listen to what is happening in your family and what you want to protect. You will leave with a clear read on where you stand, even when it is not what you hoped to hear.
We build your case the way you would want it built. Organized records, early preparation, and a strategy you can actually follow. That work starts on day one, so nothing at the Justice Center catches you flat-footed.
A client portal that keeps you in the loop. Real-time alerts, case milestones, and billing visibility, included at no additional cost. You will always know where your case stands.
We are staffed for mediations that need real preparation. Business interests, maintenance disputes, and parents living in different states land here regularly. The firm’s footprint across Colorado, Illinois, and Wyoming means complexity does not require a second law firm.
No outcome guarantees, only preparation. No lawyer can promise a particular result, and you should be cautious of anyone who does. What we commit to is the preparation, strategy, and communication that give your case its strongest footing.
What to Expect When You Call
Our consultation process is straightforward and built around three things you need before any decisions get made:
- We listen first. Tell us what is happening. The short version is fine, and we will ask the questions that matter.
- We explain what Colorado law says. In plain English, with no lecture and no scare tactics.
- We map your next step. You will leave knowing what comes next: filing, responding, gathering records, or taking time to think it through.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is mediation required for an Englewood divorce?
Colorado law does not require mediation in every divorce, and spouses who agree on everything can file their paperwork without it. Arapahoe County judges commonly order mediation before a contested permanent orders hearing, however, so most cases with disputed issues go through it. We tell you at the consultation whether your case is likely to be ordered to mediate.
Is a mediated agreement binding in Colorado?
Not by itself. A mediated agreement becomes enforceable when it is written into a separation agreement, signed, and approved by the Arapahoe County District Court as part of the decree. The court reviews the financial terms for fairness and the parenting terms for the child’s best interests before adopting them.
Do I have to come into your Inverness office, or can we handle mediation preparation virtually?
Either works. We meet Englewood clients in person at Inverness Parkway and by video or phone, and Colorado’s e-filing system handles most paperwork without repeated trips to Centennial. Court appearances, when required, happen in Arapahoe County regardless of how we meet.
